LSU Eunice Athletics Set for Postseason Run
Bengals to Host Regional Tournament
Eunice, LA – March 8, 2023 –
The LSU Eunice baseball team will begin its postseason run on the Cajun Prairie as the Bengals host the Region 23 Tournament from May 12-14. The Bengals, who are the top seed in the tournament, will face the winner of the Baton Rouge CC and Delgado CC game in the opening round on May 12.
LSU Eunice enters the tournament with a 40-10 record, including a 20-4 mark in Region 23 play. The Bengals have won 13 of their last 14 games, including a three-game sweep of Baton Rouge CC last weekend.
The Bengals are led by a potent offense that is averaging 8.5 runs per game. Sophomore outfielder Gavin Guidry leads the team with a .400 batting average, while sophomore infielder Cade Doughty has a team-high 10 home runs and 50 RBIs.
The Bengals pitching staff has also been solid this season, with a team ERA of 3.50. Sophomore right-hander Bryce Wallace leads the team with a 7-2 record and a 2.89 ERA, while sophomore left-hander Aidan Miller has a 6-1 record and a 3.00 ERA.
The Bengals will be looking to make a deep run in the postseason after reaching the NJCAA Division II World Series last year. LSU Eunice has won three national championships in program history, the most recent coming in 2019.
